AV Service Technician/AV Allrounder

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced AV Service Technician to join our team supporting commercial audiovisual systems across South East Queensland.

This role is focused on fault finding, repairs, preventative maintenance, commissioning support and customer service. You'll work across a wide range of technologies including audio systems, DSPs, control systems, video conferencing platforms, LED displays, projectors, lighting, networking equipment and room control solutions.

We're looking for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, solving technical issues and building long-term relationships with clients.

You'll also assist our project team with installations, commissioning and system handovers where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend customer sites to diagnose and resolve AV and control system faults.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and generate service reports.
  • Support audio DSP, control systems, LED screens, lighting and conferencing platforms.
  • Test and verify system performance following repairs or upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate service records, job notes and documentation, including daily reports to management.
  • Provide user training and operational support where required.
  • Assist project delivery teams with commissioning and technical handover activities.
  • Participate in an on-call support roster if required.

Desired Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in commercial AV.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs and PoE.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and system schematics.
  • Excellent customer communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage service priorities.
  • Ability to use power tools and work unsupervised.
  • Understanding of DMX and Art-Net protocols.
  • Understanding of Dante and other Audio-over-IP transmission protocols.
  • Current Australian driver's licence.

Highly Regarded

  • Q-SYS certification.
  • Experience with NEXO, L-Acoustics, ChamSys, grandMA, Crestron, Pixelhue, Video over IP, Audio over IP and network management.
  • LED display troubleshooting experience.
  • Structured cabling endorsement or electrical background.
  • EWP, Working at Heights or White Card.

  • Preventative maintenance identifies issues before failures occur.

  • Positive relationships are maintained with clients through clear communication and reliable service delivery.
